Man faces 3 counts of vehicular homicide in crash that killed young family

 

HOUSTON COUNTY, Tenn. – The driver accused of hitting and killing a young couple and their newborn baby in Houston County earlier this week is being charged in their deaths, according to WKRN News 2.

Benjamin Franklin, 37, faces three counts of vehicular homicide in the deaths of William Griggs, 20, Kassidy Leonard, 19, and their 11-day old baby girl, Kimberlynn.

 

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Franklin was travelling down Highway 13 in Houston County when his vehicle crossed the double yellow lines and hit the couple’s car head-on.

All three members of the family were killed at the scene.

Franklin was injured and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His mother told News 2 he suffered broken bones and a bleeding spleen.

News 2 was there as Franklin was released from the hospital and taken into custody by the Houston County Sheriff’s Department.
